Quick Tips Part 1.8

Integrated Development Environment

The Type Designer and the Map Designer have been merged and ported into Eclipse. The new WebSphere Transformation Extender Design Studio combines the functionality of both tools into one integrated development environment. Users now create a Type Tree, assign it to a Map and edit their data all within the same graphical environment. Since our tools run inside Eclipse, they can also be
shared within other IBM tools.
Existing users will notice several graphical user interface improvements. The new tools will continue to provide the necessary functions for you to create type trees and maps along with several new features.

IBM WebSphere Adapters

WebSphere Transformation Extender 8.2 adds support for five IBM WebSphere adapters.
  • WebSphere EMail
  • WebSphere FTP
  • WebSphere PeopleSoft (for the IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for PeopleSoft)
  • WebSphere SAP QISS (for the IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for SAP R/3)
  • WebSphere Siebel (for the IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for Siebel)

XML Editors

The new Design Studio ships with all the editors you need to work with XML data. An XML Editor, XML Schema Editor and DTD Editor are all available inside the tooling environment.

Map Generator for WebSphere ESB and WebSphere Process Server

The WebSphere Transformation Extender Design Studio can now generate data bindings that you can use inside Websphere Enterprise Service Bus and Websphere Process Server. After you provide a business object schema in the Design Studio and respond to prompts in the Map Generator for WESB/WPS wizard, the WebSphere Transformation Extender tools will build all of the maps you need to incorporate WebSphere Transformation Extender runtime functionality into both products. The WebSphere Transformation Extender tools can also run inside WebSphere Integration Developer as part of the WebSphere Transformation Extender for Integration Servers offering.
